I don’t follow rules, and I don’t hold back. I’m in your face, and I’m tongue in cheek. No apologies. Creating art is my addiction, something I do every single day. My fascination is harnessing the spray can. I am enticed by its chaotic temperament and versatility, and how it demands your focus to control its output.
I’m hooked on playing and interacting with the multitude of surfaces on which I create - walls, canvas, cars, motorbikes, paper and sculptures.
I’m heavily influenced by the urban fabric of Hong Kong, with its iconic style of architecture and emotive streetscapes. I use my architectural training to depict my vision of this unique city, fusing East and West. My art is a reflection and representation of the cultural phenomenon that is Hong Kong. The city for me, has continued to be a vital source of inspiration and intensity, as its fast pace expands and mutates, I navigate the space exploring its potential and limitations.
Beyond the city, inspiration for my artwork includes cult icons, provocative text and a vivid use of bold colours, exploring themes of personal freedom and a humorous play on words. My words harp back my love of cockney rhyming slang. I utilize my disused spray cans to create my own “CAN-vas” which is all part of harnessing the spray can and taking it full circle.
